PAYE Modernisation – using a common Employer Registration Number
Do you have multiple payrolls, where one or more is especially confidential?
Then you’ll need to get separate Employer Registration numbers, one for each Payroll you run.
Under PAYE Modernisation, if you have multiple separate payrolls all linked to the one Employer Registration number, then whenever an RPN file (the new P2C replacement) is requested, you will get the details for all Employees associated with that Employer Registration number, even if they are calculated in different payrolls.
And if you calculate some employees through your in-house payroll while other employees are calculated through a third party bureau, if both payrolls have the […]
Major changes coming to SEPA Direct Debit Scheme
Two and a half years after its launch, there are some major changes planned to the processing of Direct Debit payments under the SEPA Scheme from November 2016.
In the main, the planned changes should make life easier for Originators submitting SEPA XML files.
There are three major changes coming into force and our DEFT application has been updated to handle each of them although two of the changes really require that the systems at the various Retail Banks be updated to handle them.
The changes are:
1. Eliminate the difference between FRST and RCUR transactions
You will no longer be required to submit […]
Banks to end SEPA Conversion Service
From February 1st the SEPA Conversion Service offered by most Irish Banks will cease to be available.
The SEPA Conversion Service allowed Bank clients to continue submitting “Old Format” bulk payment files – ones containing Sort Code and Account Number details – for processing under the SEPA Scheme.
Once submitted, the Bank would convert the Sort Code and Account Number details to their respective BIC and IBAN equivalents, along with some other formatting changes to make the bulk payment file fully SEPA Compliant.
Along with other changes coming into effect from February 1st, this Conversion Service is to be withdrawn by most […]

DEFT from Ardbrook helps Organisations make switch to SEPA
The recent SEPA Focus in Friday’s Irish Times highlighted two major organisations who have recently made the switch to SEPA.
Both UPC and Voxpro have implemented DEFT to handle some or all of their Direct Debit transactions under SEPA.
UPC developed their own SEPA solution to handle the majority of their standard Direct Debits but bought and implemented DEFT to handle less straight forward or more complicated Direct Debits.
Voxpro selected DEFT to handle all their Direct Debits under SEPA. By using DEFT Voxpro didn’t have to modify their legacy systems and by keeping all their data in-house it is much easier […]
