Validate Employee PPSNs with Revenue before PAYE Modernisation
Do you need to validate your employees’ PPSN details with Revenue.
Revenue is encouraging all employers to validate their employees’ PPSN details well ahead of 2019 and the implementation date for PAYE Modernisation. This is to ensure that 2019 RPN details (the replacement for P2C files) will be correct.
Revenue provide a means for employers to submit a file with all their employees details. And if you use either of Ardbrook’s payroll products – EuroPay or PayDay – then your payroll software is already able to produce the file required by Revenue.

PAYE Modernisation – using a common Employer Registration Number
Do you have multiple payrolls, where one or more is especially confidential?
Then you’ll need to get separate Employer Registration numbers, one for each Payroll you run.
Under PAYE Modernisation, if you have multiple separate payrolls all linked to the one Employer Registration number, then whenever an RPN file (the new P2C replacement) is requested, you will get the details for all Employees associated with that Employer Registration number, even if they are calculated in different payrolls.

Budget 2014 – Employers PRSI Increase
Just a reminder that when from 1 July 2011 the lower rate of employer PRSI was halved (to 4.25%) for all jobs that pay up to €356 per week, that the rate will be restored to 8.5% from 1 January 2014.

The main points of Budget 2014 are as follows:
Pensions, carers’ allowance, disability benefit are untouched.

Maternity benefits standardised at €230 per week

Budget 2014 – It’s steady as she goes
Budget 2014 may contain many changes but from the point of view of payroll and the calculation of PAYE Tax, USC and PRSI there are none. It appears that all rates remain the same as they were in 2013.
Budget 2013 Troika calls for €1.25 in new taxes!
A report on the seventh review on the terms of Ireland’s EU-International Monetary Fund bailout, which was published this afternoon, states that revenue measures to raise at least €1.25 billion in the Budget will also include
a broadening of the personal income tax base
a restructuring of motor tax
a property tax based on house valuation will be introduced
a reduction in general tax expenditures
an increase in excise duty and other indirect taxes
On the spending side, social expenditure reductions and a cut in the total pay and pensions bill will be part of consolidation measures worth €2.25 billion.
